Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act
The federal government passed legislation offering certain protection to some tenants of residential properties in foreclosure. Generally, tenants of foreclosed properties have the right to remain in the property for at least 90 days after foreclosure and may have the right to stay longer. In order for any protection to apply, you must be a tenant in good standing, current on rent and late fees.
Lease Addendum Regarding Lead Based Paint
Housing built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint. Lead from paint, paint chips, and dust can pose health hazards if not managed properly. Lead exposure is especially harmful to young children and pregnant women. Before renting pre-1978 housing, lessors must disclose the presence of lead-based paint and/or lead-based paint hazards in the dwelling. Lessees must also receive a federally approved pamphlet on lead poisoning prevention.
